Flying Tigers end Boston-Moon Classic

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's track and field team concluded competition at home in the 9th Annual Boston-Moon Classic on Saturday inside the Edward S. Temple Track Complex.

The Flying Tigers' all around effort was headed by Michael Rideout's feat in the 400m. Rideout broke the tape in first with a career fastest time of 47.61 seconds. He now owns five career victories in the event including two at home while holding on to the fastest time in the OVC.

In the field events, Royce Dates tacked on the top performance with a career mark of 24"08.50 (7.53m) in the long jump. His second-place jump springs him atop the OVC in the event.

On the Conference Best List, Dates is followed by teammates Xavier Walton's 23"06 (7.16m) and Avian Hughes' 23"1.75 (7.05m) for second and third in the rankings respectively. Walton and Hughes posted their best jump of the year on Saturday.

The 4x400m relay team closed out the competition in third place running in at 3:17.41. It is currently their fastest this season. In the 800m, Chris Hobbs continues to progress after running his fastest time of the year last week. He improves his time to 1:58.62 finishing fourth overall.

Up next for TSU, the team will travel across town to the Vanderbilt Invitational scheduled for Friday, April 22, to Saturday, April 23, at the Vanderbilt Track.
