Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's track and field team will travel this weekend to compete in the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University.
The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 1, at 4:30pm, on the Hutsell-Rosen Track. Running events will pop off on Saturday with the start of the women's 4x100m relay at 12 p.m.
Teams slated to run include: Alabama (W), Belmont, Coastal Carolina, UNC-Charlotte, Columbus State, Duke, Gardner-Webb, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Johnson C. Smith, Middle Tennessee State, Samford, South Alabama, South Carolina Upstate, Southern Mississippi, Troy, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Western Carolina.
This will be the Flying Tigers' second consecutive event in the state of Alabama. Both hosted by members of the Southeastern Conference. Last weekend, the Flying Tigers competed well in the Alabama Relays hosted by the University of Alabama.
Michael Rideout beat out 33 in the competitors in the second heat to win the 400m with his personal best time of 47.95. Xavier Walton earned a third-place finish to go along with his best performance of the year in the long jump. RECAP...
Last year, the team competed at Auburn's 2010 War Hawk Invitational with the 4x100m relay posting their fastest time of the season at 41.81 seconds. Julian Mallory and Rideout also recorded personal bests in thier respective events. RECAP...
Next up, the Flying Tigers will compete in Nashville when they host their only meet of the season in the 9th Annual Boston-Moon Classic. The Classic will be held at the Ed Temple Track and Field Complex.
