Fitzpatrick and Holderhead Honored by CFPA

NASHVILLE, Tenn.Daniel Fitzpatrick and Leon Holderhead were recognized as National Performers of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for the their roles in Tennessee State’s, 31-0, win at Butler.

Against the Bulldogs, Fitzpatrick had three tackles and two interceptions. He returned his first pick 26 yards for his third touchdown of the year. The score made put the Tigers up by 24 in the second half and ended all hope of a Butler comeback.

The junior safety is second on the team in stops with 66 and his eight interceptions lead all of FCS football.

For Holderhead, the junior punted four times for an average of 42.8 yards, had a season-long of 61 yards and two kicks were downed inside the 20-yard line.

The Australian native has punted 66 times on the year for an average of 38.2 yards. He has had 22 of his kicks fair caught and 10 have been over 50 yards.

TSU’s season will continue on Saturday with a 1 p.m. kickoff at No. 2 Eastern Illinois.
