Four Tennessee State University Tigers were selected to participate in the Third Annual HBCU All-Star Bowl on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Dante' Thomas was selected to the West roster, while Rico Council, Donte'e Nicholls and Joseph Wylie were added to the East lineup.

Thomas, a senior from Dallas, has totaled 1,722 yards rushing during his illustrious career. He ranks fifth at TSU in career rushing. Thomas needs just 72 yards to move into fourth all-time at TSU. So far this season, the tailback has carried the ball 116 times for 581 yards and six touchdowns, ranking 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference.

A destructive force on defense, Council leads Tennessee State with 71 tackles this season. The Chattanooga native has compiled 280 tackles, ranking second in school history only behind TSU Head Coach Rod Reed's mark of 406 set during the 1985-1988 seasons. He is TSU's active leader with 24.0 tackles-for-loss and nine sacks.

Nicholls, a native of Pompano Beach, Fla., has been a stalwart on the Tigers defensive line. He has posted 61 tackles and 8.5 tackles-for-loss in 28 games played during his career. This season, Nicholls has 26 tackles, 3.0 tackles-for-loss and a sack.

Wylie, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is second on the team this season with 59 tackles. He has accumulated 73 career tackles and posted 2.5 tackles-for-loss and an interception in 17 games as a member of the Tigers.

The HBCU All-Star Bowl matches the top senior players from the CIAA, SIAC, MEAC and SWAC. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on Dec. 18 at the Georgia Dome.

Players will spend a week in Atlanta, Georgia going through NFL-like combine testing and practice. Scouts from every NFL team and several from Canada attended last year's combine. In 2010, three players from the HBCU All-Star Bowl were drafted and 32 signed free agent agreements with NFL teams.
