TSU to Start the Season Ranked No. 17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State football team will start the season ranked No. 17 in the FCS Coaches Poll.

The Tigers garnered 237 points, which is 77 back of Eastern Illinois and 188 behind Jacksonville State. Bethune-Cookman is the only other HBCU in the Top 25, coming in at No. 23.

The Tennessee State football team completed one of its main goals this past season by making the playoffs while posting a 10-4 record.

The Tigers finished second in Ohio Valley Conference play with a 6-2 record, and their 31-0 win over Butler was their first postseason victory in nearly 27 years.

TSU will kick off the season in the John Merritt Classic on Aug. 30.
