Women's Golf Completes Day One at Murray State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University women's golf team took to the course on Monday at the 2012 Murray State Drake Creek Invitational in Ledbetter, Ky. The rain stayed away as the Tigers completed the first two rounds, of three, on the Par-72, 6,176 yard course.

Kelly Merkel paced the Tigers with a two-round total of a 15-over 159 (79-80). The freshman is tied for 32nd, 15 shots behind Belmont's Shay Sullivan who sits at even par. As a team, TSU cut eleven strokes off their first round score and is in eleventh with a 779 (395-384) after day one.

Central Arkansas leads by one stroke over host Murray State after the first 36-holes of play. The final round will have a shotgun start time of 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
