Nashville, Tenn. - With the 2010-2011 athletic season approaching, the Tennessee State University Department of Athletics will take a look back at last year, counting down the Top 10 Moments of the 2009-10 season.
With one spot away from the end of the countdown, holding in at No. 2 - "Guice Jumps to Another Title" retaining her long jump championship crowns during the 2010 OVC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Martinique Guice added two more individual titles to here resume after winning both long jump titles in 2009 and the 100m during outdoor competition as a freshman in 2007. Guice entered the 2010 indoor and outdoor championships ranked third in the OVC, but, defended her titles winning outdoor with her last jump of the final flight. She recaptured the indoor championship with a jump from the preliminaries.
She then qualified for a consecutive season for the NCAA Regional Championship jumping a season best (6.01m) at the competition. However, she missed qualifying for the national championship just shy of a foot to make the top-12 cut-off.
The TSU athletic department's staff and coaches, out of a pool of more than 25 entries, voted the Top 10 Moments of 2009-10.
