Tiger Football Defeats OVC Champs
Nashville, Tenn. - With the 2010-2011 athletic seasons approaching, the Tennessee State University Department of Athletics will take a look back at last year, counting down the Top 10 Moments of the 2009-10 season.
Sliding in the countdown at No. 4 - "Tiger Football Defeats the OVC Champs" upsetting No. 13 ranked Eastern Illinois, 21-10, in Charleston, Ill. to close out the season.
The Tigers snapped a four-game skid dropping the Panthers on national television (ESPNU) while holding the heavily favorite to a field goal in the first half. EIU was named the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Champions the previous week before losing to the Tigers.
The Big Blue rolled up a season-best, 311 yards in total offense (176 rush, 135 pass), while holding an EIU passing attack that averaged 205 yards a game to a season low, 149 yards with three interceptions.
The TSU athletic department's staff and coaches, out of a pool of more than 25 entries, voted the Top 10 Moments of 2009-10.
