NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As the Tennessee State football team wrapped up its second week of practice, a handful of positions are still without concrete starters, including on the offensive line.
The Tigers have to replace departed seniors Kadeem Edwards and Demetrius Rhaney, who both were taken in the NFL Draft. As handful of current players are fighting for those two spots as well as pushing last year’s starters.
“It will be tough to replace Kadeem and Demetrius,” Line Coach Russ Ehrenfeld said. “But the young men out here have stepped it up. I am very pleased with the development of the group and their work ethic.”
The first game against Edward Waters is only a couple of weeks away, and Ehrenfeld gets a little closer to naming his starting line each day.
“Every day you lay that foundation and I am evaluating those guys every day. When it’s all said and done, I am going to put the five best guys on the field, but I don’t know who those five are at this point.”
The lineman and the rest of the TSU team will try to impress their coaches at tomorrow’s two-hour scrimmage, scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m.
