GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action for the second time in three days with a match-up against cross-town rival Belmont University on Saturday. Game time for the OVC contest is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.        

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State’s two-game winning streak was snapped on Thursday when the Lady Tigers fell to Tennessee Tech at home. The loss was TSU’s third of the season at home and dropped the team to 2-2 in the OVC.

TSU is averaging 66.6 points per outing while shooting 36.0 percent from the field. Chelsea Hudson leads the team in scoring with 16.6 points per game while Rachel Allen (12.0 ppg) and I’mani Davis (6.8 ppg) round out the top scorers for TSU. The Lady Tigers lead the OVC in steals and

The Lady Tigers, under second year head coach Larry Joe Inman, returned four letterwinners from last year’s squad and added eight newcomers, including seven freshmen, to the roster. TSU finished last season with an overall record of 13-15 and a 9-7 conference mark. In an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll that was released in October, TSU was predicted to finish fifth in the East Division standings.

LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee State got a career-high 25 points out of sophomore Brianna Lawrence but it wasn’t enough as TSU fell to Tennessee Tech, 77-68, Thursday night in the Gentry Center. TSU only committed 14 turnovers but was outrebounded, 43-35, in the game. In addition to Lawrence’s career-high, Hudson recorded a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds while Rachel Allen added 11 points and three steals.   

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Belmont (7-12, 4-2 OVC) has won four of its last five contests, including the most recent victory over Murray State. The Bruins defeated the Racers, 67-57, on in the Curb Event Center. BU’s two losses were to SIUE and UTM.

In the win over Murray State, Katie Carroll led Belmont with 15 points while Jordyn Luffman (13) and Taylor Mills (10) also scored in double-figures. Frankie Joubran hauled in a game-high 17 rebounds.

Overall, Belmont is led in scoring by Jordyn Luffman who averages 14.7 points per game. Katie Carroll (8.0 ppg) and Taylor Mills (7.3 ppg) round out the top scorers for BU.

As a team, the Bruins average, 65.3 points per game while shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from long range.

TSU vs. BELMONT
TSU will match-up with Tennessee Tech for the 32nd time in the series history with Belmont holding a, 23-8, lead. Last season, the teams split as each squad won on its home court. TSU fell to BU 66-54 in the Curb Event Center while the Lady Tigers edged the Bruins nearly a month later in the Gentry Center.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
