Coach Kathy Roulhac concluded her 10th season at the helm of Tennessee State volleyball, with the Tigers compiling a 10-18 record. Big Bue finished eighth in the conference punching a ticket to the OVC tournament.
The trip to top seeded Morehead state marked the third consecutive season the Tigers made postseason.
The campaign also brought about other accomplishments that highlighted the season.
2013 TSU Volleyball Highlights:
·Senior Erika Moss and Junior Naomi Wells were honored as members of the preseason all-conference team.
·The Tigers picked up their first win of the season against Southern Utah on Aug. 31. Senior Erika Moss dished out 48 assists in the win and helped three TSU attackers finish in double digit kills.
·Tennessee State picked up a key non-conference over AAC foe Memphis on Oct. 15. The match went five sets and three TSU attackers racked up 10 or more kills in the victory.
·The Tigers rode the momentum after knocking off Memphis to win three of their next four contests, all at home from Oct. 18 to Oct. 25. In the span Big Blue picked up wins over UT Martin, Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State.
·Erika Moss picked up her 4,000 assist in TSU’s match against SIUE, becoming the only Tiger to reach the plateau in program history.
·Wells earned OVC player of the week twice during the season, tied for the most of any volleyball player.
·The Tigers finished 4-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play at the Gentry Center.
·Wells finished the year on the all-OVC team after leading the conference in kills per set.
·As a team TSU totaled 676 assists in conference play, for an average of 12.29 helpers a contest, fifth best mark in the Ohio Valley.
·In OVC matches freshman Arijana Anderson finished seventh in kills averaging 3.12 put downs per frame and totaling 162 kills.
·Erika Moss piled up 974 assists on the year, the eighth best single season mark in Tennessee State History. The senior currently holds four of the nine best assist seasons in school history.
·Moss finished her career in the top ten lists of four different statistical categories: assists (4,330, first), digs (1,063, fifth), aces (89, sixth) and block assists (137, eighth)
·Wells currently ranks fifth in the all-time career kills list in TSU history with 829. Her 2,400 attacks also put the Huntsville, Ala. native seventh the record books in that category.
