Royce Dates Named Male OVC Field Co-Athlete of the Week

Brentwood, Tenn. – Junior Flying Tiger Royce Dates was named Male Field Co-Athlete of the Week by the Ohio Valley Conference office.
 
The Memphis native was nominated for the honor after an impressive showing at the Boston-Moon Relays on Saturday.
 
In the meet, Dates had a great performance in the long jump and although he came in 2nd, Dates beat out 16 other competitors with a leap of 25’1.25.”
 
The jump set a new career-high and is the farthest in the OVC this season. It is also the eleventh best hop in the nation.
 
Dates is the only TSU track and field member to be named an athlete of the week this season and the first since Daniecce Ward, who won the award on Jan. 10, 2012.
 
Dates shares this week’s award with Mike Viken of Eastern Illinois. Vicken won the pole vault at this weekend’s Hilltopper Relays.
