Tiger Feature: Women's Basketball Assistant to Coach in Maccabi Games in Israel

Nashville --- Tennessee State University assistant women’s basketball coach Jamie Shadian will serve as an assistant coach for the U.S. Maccabi girl’s basketball team at the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Israel.

The World Maccabiah Games are a quadrennial event that takes place in Israel. The 18th World Maccabiah Games, scheduled for July 12-23, 2009 will be the world’s third largest international athletic competition.

“This experience is extraordinarily exciting form me,” commented TSU assistant coach Jamie Shadian. “I’m able to combine my passion for basketball and coaching with my passion for Israel. And anytime I can combine those passions, it’s like a perfect world.”

Over 8000 of the world’s best Jewish athletes from six continents and over 60 countries will compete at the games. This will be Shadian’s first time serving as an assistant coach with the U.S. Maccabi girl’s basketball team.

“This is a great opportunity for me personally and professionally. It is also a great opportunity for the TSU women’s basketball program.”
