TSU Returns to Action at Kennesaw State

GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will look for its first win of the young season when the Lady Tigers face Kennesaw State on the road Monday night. The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. (ET) start in the KSU Convocation Center.
 
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
A relatively young squad, the Lady Tigers (0-1) are coming off an, 85-53, season-opening loss to Kansas State on  Friday night in Bramlage Coliseum. Chelsea Hudson was the only Lady Tiger to score in double-digits as the offense struggled against the Wildcats. The game at KSU will be the second contest of a five-day road trip for TSU.
 
The Lady Tigers, under second year head coach Larry Joe Inman, returned four letterwinners from last year’s squad and added eight newcomers, including seven freshmen, to the roster.
 
TSU finished last season with an overall record of 13-15 and a 9-7 conference mark. In an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll that was released in October, TSU was predicted to finish fifth in the East Division standings.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee State dropped its season opener on the road to Big 12 member Kansas State. The Lady Tigers fell to the Wildcats, 85-53, in Bramlage Coliseum. Redshirt junior Chelsea Hudson led the Lady Tigers with 16 points and four steals while freshmen Diamond Beatty and I’mani Davis each tallied nine points. Davis also pulled down an team best seven rebounds. 
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Kennessaw State (0-1) dropped its season opener against the College of Charleston Friday night on the road, falling to the Cougars, 87-66.
 
In the loss, freshman Ty-Nita Baker Baker scored 23 points while junior Kristina Wells posted 13. Freshman Chloe Branch added 12.
 
A member of the A-Sun, K-State has four letterwinners and only one starter returning from last year’s squad. The Owls, under second-year head coach Nitra Perry, have 11 newcomers.  KSU finished last season with a record of 7-24 (3-15) good for a ninth place finish in the conference.
 
TSU vs. KENNESAW STATE
Tennessee State and Kennesaw State will meet for the first time in the two programs’ history.

Tennessee State will briefly return home before another two-game road stint. The Lady Tigers will face Troy on Friday, Nov. 15 before a match-up at Florida A&M on Sunday, Nov. 17.
