TSU Women's Tennis Falls to UTM, 7-0

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University women's tennis team fell 7-0 to UT Martin on Sunday afternoon at the TSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers fell to 0-7 and 0-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while UT Martin improved to 6-8 and 5-0 in OVC action.

In doubles action, the Skyhawks' Jodie Tiley/Ivon Simic won 8-0 over Lauren and London Thomas to claim the No. 1 point. In the No. 2 slot, UTM's Anna Marie Herbold/Alice Laing defeated Melynda Simmons/Kryston Mason, 8-0. In the third doubles contest, Katie McCall/Jessica Silva won 8-1 over Shardel Suber/Khadijah Williams.

Simmons dropped the top singles match to UTM's Tiley, 6-0, 6-1. In the No. 2 slot, Simic defeated London Thomas (6-3, 6-0), while Herbold won the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-2 over Lauren Thomas.

Tennessee State's Mason fell 6-0, 6-0 to Laing in the fourth slot, as the Skyhawks' No. 5 Silva toppled Suber (6-0, 6-0). UT Martin's McCall claimed the sixth point by defeating Williams (6-2, 6-0).

The TSU men's and women's tennis teams return to action on Friday, April 6 with a match at Austin Peay. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
