Tigers' Football Camp Opens Saturday
Tennessee State University will open summer camp for the 2011 football season on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Head football coach Rod Reed is set to begin his second season at the helm of the Tigers' football program.
Reed and his staff will have a solid core of veterans, expecting back 10 offensive starters, 6 defensive starters and 5 special team starters from the 2010 team. Overall there are thirty-eight returning letterwinners that include eighteen talented red-shirt freshmen.
TSU players will check-in on Saturday beginning at 1:00p and will get physicals, equipment and attend orientation classes through Sunday.
The Tigers will hit the field on Monday morning (08/08) at 9:15a for summer camp, and will participate in twenty-three practice sessions with two scheduled scrimmages. Summer camp will culminate with Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 27, 2011 (see camp schedule).
Tennessee State will open the season on September 3, 2011 when they host Southern University in the thirteenth John A. Merritt Classic at 6:00p at LP Field.
