Results for Day One of OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships

Murray State, Southeast Missouri Lead OVC Indoor Meet after First Day

Nashville, Tenn. -- Murray State and Southeast Missouri lead the women and men’s divisions respectively, after the first day of the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships being conducted at Tennessee State University’s Gentry Center on Friday, February 29, 2008.

The Murray State women have 32.5 points, just ahead of Eastern Illinois and Tennessee State with 32 points each. Other women’s first day scoring are as follows: Jacksonville State (24), Samford (21), Austin Peay (17.5), Tennessee Tech (14.5), Eastern Kentucky (12) and Southeast Missouri (9.5).

On the men’s side, Southeast Missouri State leads six teams with 48 points, followed by Eastern Illinois (37), Eastern Kentucky (32), Tennessee State (28), Morehead State (8) and Samford (2).

New OVC records were recorded in the Distance Medley for both women and men., Murray State’s women clocked a 12:08.11 timing (12:10.21), and Eastern Kentucky’s men ran a 10:01.46 (10:07.89). Eastern Illinois finishing in second place bested the old record as well with a time of 10:05.74).

The OVC Indoor Championships continue on Saturday, March 1, 2008 with field events beginning at 10:00a and running event finals beginning at 1:00p. All events are being run on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track in the Gentry Center at Tennessee State University..
