Tigers Complete Day One of OVC Championships

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State women’s golf team completed day one of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Sunday. All three rounds are being played at the Par-72, 5,964 yard GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
 
The Tigers are in 10th place after shooting a team score of 381. Kelly Merkel leads the way for TSU with a 13-over, 85 and is tied for 34th. Amelia Dap and Sarah Needleman followed with a 92 and 95, respectively. Chelsea Marlin came in with a 109.
 
Merkel recorded eight pars on the day, as she hit 12 fairways and found six greens. On the day, Merkel finished with 36 putts. Dap used nine fairways and three greens to set-up three pars. Dap used 38 putts.
 
Needleman completed the first round with seven fairways and 39 putts. The freshman knocked down four pars over the first 18 holes. Marlin needed just 31 putts through the first round. Marlin nailed 10 fairways and one par on the day.
 
Day two of the OVC Championships will begin with the Tigers teeing off at 8:00 am.
