Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's basketball program completed their annual John Cooper Summer Basketball Camp on Thursday inside the Gentry Center.
Campers learned skill development, motivation, team concept and attitude. The coaching staff set drills and one-on-one instruction put emphasis on ball handling, shooting, post presence, rebounding and team building.
"It was impressive to see how much the campers retained from 2010 and our new participants did a great job grasping the drills after day one," said TSU Basketball head coach John Cooper. "We had a great turnout this year and we were also pleased to see campers from last year return in addition to some newcomers,"
In only its second year, the camp experienced a little over a 50 percent increase from last year's attendance with 46 campers this year.
"The camp's growth in attendance says a lot about how well our campers enjoy being around our staff, just as much as our counselors enjoy instructing them, Cooper said. "Our team-play day last Saturday really set the tone and it was a tremendous opportunity to support the young people in the middle Tennessee area that participated in both sections of the camp."
