Lady Tigers Enter OVC Tournament as Fourth Seed

Following the conclusion of Saturday night’s women’s basketball games, the 2014 OVC Women’s Basketball Championship Field was set.

In the regular season finale, Tennessee State defeated Eastern Kentucky to finish the season with an OVC mark of 9-7 and will enter the tournament as the fourth seed. The seeding is the highest TSU has had since 2009 when the Lady Tigers earned the third seed after going 13-5 in conference play.

UT Martin earned the No. 1 seed while Belmont is the No. 2 seed. Both the Skyhawks and Bruins earned byes to the semifinals on Friday. Tennessee Tech earned the No. 3 seed and along with No. 4 seed TSU, will receive a first round bye. Eastern Kentucky grabbed the No. 5 seed followed by Jacksonville State, SIUE and Eastern Illinois.

The four-day event will be held at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville. The tournament begins on Wednesday but TSU will play on Thursday, March 6 at noon. The entire tournament can be seen live on the OVC Digital Network as well as ESPN3.
