Wells and Anderson Named All-OVC

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The OVC announced its all-conference teams on Wednesday as a part of the annual awards banquet. This year’s list included two Tigers: Naomi Wells and Arijana Anderson.

Wells a junior from Huntsville, Ala. was named to the All-OVC team for the second consecutive year. The outside hitter led the conference in both kills (3.64) and points (4.11) per set this season as Big Blue’s featured attacker.

On the year Wells totaled 346 kills and 259 digs, picking up 10 double-doubles along the way. The Huntsville, Ala. native's best performance came against Memphis when she notched 19 kills and 19 digs in a five set win over the American Athletic Conference foe.

Freshman Arijana Anderson was tabbed to the Ohio Valley All Newcomer team after her stellar freshman campaign. Hitting opposite of Wells the Muncie, Ind. native totaled 247 kills for an average of 2.68 kills per frame.

Along the way, Anderson notched 14 double-digit kill performances including two back-to-back 10 kill matches to conclude the regular season. Anderson’s best night came against Eastern Illinois on Oct. 4 when the outside hitter logged 16 kills.

Wells, Anderson and the rest of the Tigers begin play in the OVC tournament tomorrow when they take on host Morehead State at 6 p.m. The match can be seen live on the OVC Digital Network.
