Fitzpatrick and Holderhead Honored by CFPA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Monday, Tennessee State football players Daniel Fitzpatrick and Leon Holderhead were honorable mentions for the College Football Performance Awards’ (CFPA) Player of the Week nominations.

In Saturday’s, 40-16, win over Southeast Missouri, Fitzpatrick led the Tennessee State defense by picking up two interceptions and five tackles. Big Blue held the Redhawks to 229 total yards and just one touchdown.

The junior from Fort Wayne, Ind. is second on the team with three interceptions and 28 tackles for the season.

For Holderhead, the junior had his best performance as a Tiger against Southeast Missouri. The Brunswick East, Australia native punted three times for 157 yards, for 52.3 yards per punt average. 

This season, Holderhead has recorded 20 punts with nine of them being downed inside the 20.

Big Blue returns to action on Saturday for a trip to nationally ranked Jacksonville State (23/24) with kick-off set for 3 p.m.
