Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State fell in both games on Saturday during day two of the Tiger Classic. The Tigers went down at the hands of Nebraska-Omaha by the score of 11-0 in five innings before dropping an 8-0 six inning contest to Indiana. TSU moved to 6-14 as UNO improved to 21-2 and Indiana evened their record at 12-12.
UNO used an 11-run third inning to get the better of the Tigers. Olivia Gamache (2-7) was tagged with the loss giving up nine earned runs on eight hits and three walks. Shea Morris pitched the last 2.1 innings without allowing a hit and struck out four and walking one.
In the second game, the Hoosiers took advantage of ten hits and two walks off Morris to score eight runs, seven earned. The sophomore hurler produced three more strikeouts, giving her 284 in her career. The total ties Caitlin Eaton (2008-11) for second on the career strikeout list at TSU.
Givens was one of four Tigers to garner a hit in the nightcap. The lefty freshman duo of Kiarra Freeman and Kacie Daugherty each earned a hit, while senior Tedra Alford hit a double in her lone hit of the game.
Day two of the tournament begins at 9:30 am. The Tigers will take on Mississippi Valley State at 1:30 and Alabama State at 3:30 pm. All of the Tigers games can be heard on tsutigers.com.
