Dickson, Tenn. – Senior Cameron Scitern has been named to the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference All-Conference team. Scitern is just the fourth Tiger in school history to be named to the first team and the sixth to gain a position on either the first, second or newcomer team. The Tiger captain is the first to be named to the first team since former head coach Chris Seibel accomplished the feat in 2010.
Adrian Adams was the first for TSU to be honored in 1996, while Robert Dinwiddie is the only Tiger to be named multiple times as he was named in all four of his seasons from 2002-05. Phillip Watkins was placed on the second team in 2006 and current team member James Stepp was named to the All-Newcomer team last season.
Scitern was third in the OVC this year with a 72.5 strokes per round average. The Rockdale, Texas product finished in a tie for ninth at the Big Blue Intercollegiate with a three-round 3-under. Scitern experienced his best round on the final day as he carded a 4-under, 68.
Scitern closed out the fall season with a second place finish at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in Hopkinsville, Ky. The senior finished 8-under for the tournament and recorded 69’s during the first and third rounds and a 70 during the middle round. Scitern missed out on the title by one stroke.
The Tigers continue play during the second round of the OVC Championships on Friday at the GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
