The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 16 for the beginning of a two-game homestand. The Lady Tigers will match-up with Belmont for the second time this season. Tip-off for the Play4Kay Pink Out Game is set for 7 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State is coming off a, 67-61, road win against Murray State on Monday. With the win the Lady Tigers improved to 10-12 overall and 6-5 in the league. TSU is 2-2 at home in league play this season. The Lady Tigers are fourth in the OVC East Division standings.
As a team, TSU is averaging 61.0 points per contest while shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 28.5 percent from beyond the arc. TSU is currently connecting only 67.6 percent from the free-throw line while committing an average of 16.6 turnovers per game.
TSU averages 38.2 rebounds, 10.7 assists and 10.0 steals per game. The Lady Tigers are under first year head coach Larry Joe Inman.

The Tennessee State University women's basketball team picked up a hard-fought road win over Murray State, 67-61, on Monday. TSU trailed midway through the second half, but fought back to get back into the game. The Lady Tigers outscored the Racers, 7-0, down the stretch to seal the victory. Kesi Hess led TSU with 19 points while Simone Hopes (16) and Jasmin Shuler (12) also scored in double figures.
In its first season on the OVC, Belmont has emerged as one of the top teams in the OVC this year as the Bruins sit in first place in the East Division with a league mark of 9-3. BU has won two straight and has an overall record of 15-10.
The Bruins are most recently coming off a non-conference win over Lipscomb. BU defeated LU, 61-39, on the road Monday. In the win, Jordyn Luffman led the Bruins with 16 points and 16 rebounds while Katie Brooks (11) and Jordan Coleman (10) also posted double-digits.
BU's only conference losses are to Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech, twice.
As a team, Belmont is averaging 61.5 points per game behind a .402 shooting percentage. BU is shooting .325 from beyond the arc and recording 36.6 rebounds per outing. The Bruins register 13.5 assists, 14.0 turnovers and 5.6 steals per contest.
Katie Brookes and Jordan Coleman lead the team in scoring with 10.0 points per game while Alyssa Visbeen (8.9 ppg) rounds out the top three scorers. Coleman averages a team best 9.9 rebounds per game.
TSU vs. BELMONT
Tennessee State and Belmont will meet for the 31st time in the series history. BU holds a 23-7 series advantage. The Bruins claimed the first meeting of the season, 66-54, in the Curb Event Center. BU has won two of the last three meetings over TSU.
