Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State volleyball team will open its home schedule on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against the Lady Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

For TSU (4-7) the contest will be an opportunity to get back into the win column after going 1-3 on the last road trip.

Head coach Kathy Roulhac hopes that playing in Kean Hall for the first time this season will be just the spark that her team needs.

"[Kean Hall] is where we have been champions, and this is a great opportunity to play in front of our fans," Roulhac said. "We have a great team, and the girls are ready to come out and show the fans exactly what they are working with."

The match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff also gives the Tigers another chance to hone their game against a non-conference opponent before starting OVC play on Sept. 21.

"As far as I'm concerned, regular season doesn't start until we start our conference matches, so we took risks this preseason in order to make the right adjustments once conference play starts," Roulhac said.

For TSU, sophomore Naomi Wells has been a catalyst for the offense to this point. She has tallied a conference-high 3.9 kills per set and has been selected to the all-tournament team in all three tournaments the team has played so far this season.

"Naomi has been amazing. She has been everything I thought she would be this season and then some. She has a star-player mentality and has the skills to back it up," Roulhac beamed regarding her outside hitter.

Another player who has been performing at a high level for TSU has been junior setter Erika Moss. She leads the team in assists with 338, but she is also second on the team in service aces and third in digs.

Last season, Arkansas-Pine Bluff was 4-23 and 3-16 outside of the conference. They hit just .060 on the season, but did have two players over 170 kills.

Come support the volleyball team tonight in Kean Hall at 7 p.m. as the team looks to win its fifth game of the season.
