The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® series continues by recognizing one of the most accomplished softball players in Tennessee State University history.

In 2003, Antionette Armstrong made TSU and OVC history, becoming the first softball player to participate in the Women's Professional Softball League.

Following her career at Tennessee State, Armstrong played the 2004 season with the Akron Racers of the National Professional Fastpitch League.

While playing for TSU, Armstrong set a handful of records while playing for Head Coach Joyce Maudie.

Currently, Armstrong holds the school career record for highest batting average with a .353 line. She also is TSU's career leader in slugging percentage and on-base percentage, and her OPS of 1.013 is 48 points higher than the player next in line.

Armstrong also holds several single-season records as her 2001 season is arguably the best season that any Tiger has had to date.

In 2001, Armstrong set the single-season record for hits, doubles, triples, batting average and on-base percentage. Her eight triples, .398 average and 30 runs are records that still stand today.

Her stellar 2001 campaign earned her all-conference honors, becoming the first Tiger along with teammate Jo Sharp to be selected to the OVC's first-team.

Today, Armstrong lives in Nashville, Tenn. and works as a Dental Hygiene Instructor at Remington College.

The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® highlights some of the greatest moments in honor of Tennessee State's centennial celebration. A new moment will be released each weekday for a total of 100. These moments were chosen by the TSU 100 Moments committee, which consists of alums from various departments. TSU has so many great moments, not all can be represented in these 100.
