Clarksville, Tenn. - Tennessee State University's men's and women's tennis teams dropped an OVC match at Austin Peay on Friday afternoon.
The men (0-7, 0-6 OVC) fell 7-0 to the Governors, while the women (0-8, 0-7 OVC) lost 6-1.
Tennessee State's women fell in all three doubles matches. The No. 1 tandem of Vanja Tomic/Alison Carre knocked off London/Lauren Thomas, 8-1. In the second contest, Kyrston Mason/Melynda Simmons fell 8-0 to APSU's Ornella Di Salvo/Andrea Cornea. In the final doubles contest, the Lady Govs combo of Vanessa Tavarez/Jovana Karak knocked off Shardel Suber/Khadijah Williams, 8-0.
TSU won the No. 6 singles point after a forfeit from Austin Peay. Suber, slotted in the No. 5 spot, fell 6-0, 6-4 to Karak.
Mason fell 6-0, 6-1 to Tavarez, while Lauren Thomas dropped straight sets (6-0, 6-0) to Cornea. In the top two matches, Carre won 6-2, 6-2 over London Thomas and Di Salvo defeated Simmons 6-2, 6-2.
In men's doubles, the No. 1 crew of Lawrence Washington/Shaun Ingram dropped an 8-3 contest to Sean Bailey and Dimitar Ristovski. In the second doubles match, Austin Peay's John Storie/Jasmin Ademovic defeated William Simmons/Jared Asher, 8-2.
In singles action, Washington lost his first contest in three matches, falling 6-2, 6-2 to Bailey. In the No. 2 slot, Ingram fell (6-0, 6-0) to Ademovic.
Simmons dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match to Ristovski, while Asher lost 6-0, 6-1 to Aleksas Tverijonas. In the fifth spot, James Shelton fell in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) to Iago Seffrin, while TSU forfeited the sixth singles point.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday with a visit to Murray State.
