Alvin Futrell joined the Tennessee State University athletic staff in 2009 and serves as the director of strength and conditioning. Futrell is the primary conditioning coach for men's basketball, men's track and field while assisting with football.
Futrell joins TSU after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Western Kentucky University. At WKU, Futrell worked with the men's and women's golf teams and, served as an assistant for football. He was an assistant under David Abernethy from 2003-2005, who is the Senior Assistant Strength Coach at Clemson University. Also, he assisted Brad Ohrt with the Hilltoppers from 2005-2007, who now is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Western Carolina University.
Futrell, a native of Hendersonville, Tenn. holds an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and a Masters degree in Kinesiology.
